He & Mary had at least 9 CHILDREN--Elizabeth, Amanda L, Mary, Martha, LACY (my Gr-Grandmother), Willis, John, Thomas, and Priscilla. Comments: Stanton Canfield? Peelle was my grandfather who moved with his family, Stanton Peelle, Sr. and his second or third wife, Bessie, to Washington DC in teh 1890's. The senior Peelle grew up in Indianapolis, down the street from Benjamin Harrison, who when President, appointed him to the US Court of Claims in Washington, D.C. Before that the Judge was in Congress representing Indianapolis for one term. Later he became Chief Justice of the US court of claims. I understand his ancestor, Robert Peelle, was born in Richmond, Indiana. My grandfather's mother, Arabella Canfield, later Peelle, was born in Ohio where her mother started the first public kindergarten, but I think they moved to Indianapolis before my grandfather was born. Comments: It's misleading to tell of Charlie Berry's death in Colorado, he contracted TB and died at a hospital there and was buried in Dothan, Ala. His widow never remarried and remained in Dothan until she died at the age of 100! Her father also lived a long life (82 yrs) and his obit tells that he had been observed riding the woods looking for stray cattle just a few weeks before his death. I do have a picture of this pioneer couple and would be happy to share any information I have.

My grandmother,Vera (I belive her maiden name was Flowers), Peele, Jackson, was married to Heubert Peele of Gibson,NC. His name was Hugh Johnston, and he did research on the Peel's for a Master's Degree class that he was taking at UNC Chapel Hill. He lived in Wilson North Carolina. My dad is James D. Peel, Jr. I found out about this site from my brother, Michael David Peel, who I think happened upon it by chance. Comments: Hi Horace! It's been awhile. So sorry to hear that your mother passed away, but I am glad she made 100! And for 100, she looks awesome! Dad (Henry Hildebrandt, son of Edward Hildebrandt & Mattie Peel) turned 90 in Oct. 2004. He also got a letter from President Bush and had an article written in the local newspaper about him. My mother, Wilma, also passed away in 2002, but in January. I now live with my dad in Napa and we go everywhere together. Currently, my brother & his family are also in residence. Incidentally, Ed Hilderbrandt (my dad's brother) also lost his wife, Marge, in the spring or summer of 2002. I had lost your email address and website address, but am happy to say I found it! I have been doing some family history on the Hildebrandt line recently. And this time am having much more success, though admittedly I am still a novice! My dad's older sister, Mildred, is 94 and on her 3rd husband...she married for the 3rd time at about 91! Most of my friends get a big kick out of that! LOL. They resided in Clinton Co., Ohio, and Edna was born in Sabina, Ohio, Clinton Co. He parents were Charles Edward and Josephine (Spurgeon) Peelle. Hello! My husband and I live in Huber Heights, Ohio. Comments: My ancestor, Mary Peele married William Granberry and the line of their decendants that comprise my ancestors eventually moved to Hardeman Co., Tennessee. Comments: My grandmother, Pecolia Peele, was the daughter of Henry Peele and Ella Newsome. I belive Henry's mother's name was Penny Peele. Henry was part African American, Caucasian and part Cherokee. Ella was the decendent of her German slave master and his house slave. Henry was a self-liberated slave (run-away). After slavery ended he started his own dray business, and was one of the first free slaves to own his own farm in Ahoski, NC. He had eight childern ( I will update with names later)
